Bob Smith is a Brighton based photographer
and a friend of Pigeon. This boat house photo
is from his website bobbysmithphotography.
Bob has been photographing interiors for a
long time and has worked for all the top
interiors magazines. All the fun of living in a
boat without the sea sickness!
We are happy to announce our new bespoke dining table
service. If size matters then don't worry as we can produce
any size table to suit your space. Tailor made at very
The idea is to create a table which is simple, practical, well
made and most importantly which allows you to end up with
a piece of furniture that you really want, rather than settling
for something thats not quite right.
We are inspired by industrial design of the 1930's and hope to
re create pieces with the same feel.
The frame is made from folded steel by very experienced British
craftsmen and can be made with a variety of finishes. Polished
steel, powder coated in a colour of your choice, dull finish, blue steel,
distressed. The choice is yours.
You can even choose the style of leg whether tapered,
straight, box or tube.
The top can be made from gorgeous lengths of recycled
100 year old , 10 cm thick , pine timber. Complete with knocks and
bumps and naturally aged. Or maybe recycled scaffold boards,
stripped and varnished. We also have a very hard wearing
lino top designed for industrial furniture and available in 12
fantastic colours. If neither of these finishes are what you are
looking for then how about Zinc or aluminium.
The basic designs stay the same but the finish is up to you.
Many thanks to designer Chris Lightburn Jones for help
with the drawings and advice on how to use the amazing

Michael Thonet 1796-1871. An incredibly influential man
in the design and manufacture of quality furniture. His
cafe chair sold more than any other chair design in history.
It has become the most influential design in the history of furniture.
The Thonet bentwood chair consists of only six components
(plus a few screws and nuts) and the design has remained
virtually unchanged for nearly 150 years.
I was fortunate enough to purchase a very special set of
early Thonet walnut chairs with a table only this week. I'll
post a picture later.
I bought this beauty today. Every home should have one.
Its a fire extinguisher pistol from the 50's made in Acton West
London. It came with three spare cartridges and is still loaded.
I'm itching to let it off!

This brilliant interior designed by Office dA
received inspiration from a Banyan tree that
swirls and flows in a rather organic pattern.
Constructed from layered birch and tables of
recycled bamboo. Formerly a Boston bank and
now a multi-Cultural dining experience led by
chef Ranveer Brar.

I found these old tokens from a local antiques arcade. I
think they were used in the war as ration tokens at a
general store called Geo.E.Allen. The coloured ones are
made of card and the others are brass discs which all have
either potato or strawberry stamped on one side.

I once admired this photograph at an exhibition at the
photographers gallery in London. It's been in my subconscious
for many years. I love the colours of the pumpkins
and the flames, and the fireman checking the pumpkins seemingly
oblivious to the destruction of the house behind.
I have been listening to a
lot of great music from the
website play fm . It's an amazing site
dedicated to DJ mixes. You can find
every style here. My favorite Dj's
seem to all come from Vienna. The
scene there is serious. Musicfranz
is one of the best. To check his mixes
and many more simply sign up for
free and sit back and enjoy the internet's
largest free catalog of cutting edge tunes.
The Vienna freestyle radio show 2008-11-08
by Musicfranz is my current play in the shop.

A lovely 1950's tubular frame desk. This beauty
was salvaged from the infirmary wing of a Belgian
factory. For this and many other great industrial
pieces please visit www.pigeonvintage.co.uk
this is exactly the kind of desk that would have
been used in the Stockton Hospital.
We are now offering a bespoke metal desk
service. All our desks are made by hand in
heavy duty steel which is then lightly polished
to leave a great patina. The tops are finished in
in a very hard wearing desk top linoleum which
comes in 12 different colours. All our desks are
different as we utilise different vintage drawers
on each one made. You can choose the type of
drawer to suit your requirements. The design is
beautifully simple , just the thing to stand your
new Mac on.
