Lou Dorfsman’s typographic masterpiece. Together with
Herb Lubalin and Tom Carnase, Dorfsman created the largest
typographic monument in existence for a wall in the CBS cafeteria.
After many years of neglect, The Center for Design Study is
now working hard to restore this piece of American design history.
Lou Dorfsman masterfully designed the wall,
juxtaposing letterforms with three-dimensional sculptures to create an
experience for patrons of the CBS cafeteria. After creating the first
panel, Dorfsman enlisted his lifetime friend and colleague, Herb
Lubalin (1918-1981), to realize this vast dream. Together, Dorfsman and
Lubalin designed the remaining panels…
